LU’MA began with a simple question:

What happens when we stop looking outside ourselves and begin to notice what is already here?

That question became an ongoing exploration of presence: how we experience ourselves, our bodies and the world around us.

We live in a world that constantly invites us to do more, become more and look elsewhere. Yet, sometimes, what we need begins with something much simpler: pausing, noticing and listening.

At LU’MA, we begin with the body.

Through the senses, movement, materials and everyday experiences, we explore different ways of reconnecting with ourselves.

Today, LU’MA takes shape as a cultural field through research, writing, books, rituals, garments, objects and spaces.

Different expressions of one intention: to make presence something we can experience in everyday life.

Beauty is part of this exploration. Not simply as decoration, but as a way of shaping our relationship with what surrounds us and how we feel within it.

We believe that even the smallest gesture can change the quality of our attention.

LU’MA was founded by Serena Forzieri and Carolina Piccione, a mother and daughter from different generations and creative backgrounds, united by a shared curiosity about how we experience ourselves and the world around us.

Serena has spent decades creating spaces where people feel welcomed, while cultivating a personal exploration of presence, the body and the relationship between our inner experience and everyday life.

Carolina brings a contemporary perspective shaped by fashion, design, visual culture, music and singing. Through these different forms of expression, she explores the relationship between the body, identity, creativity and the ways we communicate who we are.

Together, they develop LU’MA as an evolving cultural field where research, rituals, books, garments, objects, spaces and visual narratives become different expressions of a shared intention: to create the conditions for reconnecting with ourselves through the body, the senses and the material world.

Rather than offering answers or models to follow, LU’MA invites us to explore our own experience, recognising beauty as a possible path towards presence.
